The clone summary

The panel on the right updates as you work, so the whole job is visible before any of it happens: the source page, how many titles you have filled in (“0 of 3 named”), the destination once you have set one in Step 3, and the count of pages that will be created. Nothing is written to Confluence until you press the button on Step 3.

Naming shortcuts

One numbered field appears per copy, each showing Name copy n until you type in it. Every field has to have something in it — Continue to location stays disabled until they all do, and pressing it early says Name all n pages before continuing.

Three shortcuts sit above the fields, and it is worth knowing exactly what each does before you rely on it.

Auto-number

Rewrites every field as a numbered series — “Vacation Policy 1”, “Vacation Policy 2”, and so on. It is a plain sequence: there is no date, weekday or padding logic, and the numbering always starts at 1.

The stem comes from the first thing it can find, in this order:

1. Whatever you have typed in the first title field.
2. Failing that, the source page’s own title.
3. Failing that, the word Page.

So typing one good name into field 1 and pressing Auto-number is the fastest way to name twenty-five copies. It overwrites every field, including ones you have already filled in.

Copy first to all

Fills every field with whatever is in the first one, unchanged and unnumbered. It does nothing at all if the first field is still empty — no error, no partial fill.

Because the result is twenty-five identical titles, this one almost always wants Auto-number after it, or a pass through the fields to make them distinct. Confluence will not leave matching titles alone.

Clear all

Empties every title field in one click. It leaves the copy count alone — you keep the twenty-five empty fields, rather than dropping back to one — so it is the quick way to start the naming over without rebuilding the batch.

Matching titles

Confluence requires page titles to be unique within a space. If two of your titles match, the app says so before you continue — “Some titles match. Confluence auto-numbers duplicate page titles in a space.” — and Auto-number is the one-click fix. If you go ahead anyway nothing breaks: the app renames them on the way out, appending (1), (2) and so on, which is the same thing Confluence would do to you.
